CHAPTER SEVEN

Opening her eyes in the morning, Taylor didn’t hear Randy. Jumping out of bed, she went to his crib but he was gone. Slipping her robe on, she went downstairs to find him sitting at the table with Kendra’s daughters. She breathed a sigh of relief.

“Rand heard him fussing earlier and snuck into your room to get him and let you sleep. I’m sorry if it made you upset, it was my idea.”

“No, you’re fine. Thank you. I can’t believe I slept this late.” She said and looked at the clock. It was nine thirty.

“Here, have a seat, there’s some scrambled eggs and bacon, I’ll get you some.”

“Thank you, Kendra.” Taylor said as she sat down. Kendra was a great person and Taylor understood what Rand saw in her. Just as she took her first bite of food, she saw a car pull into the driveway and immediately recognized it. “Oh no.” She said and got up from the table. “Stay here, with the kids, please, Kendra.” Taylor said as she walked towards the front door.

Just as she walked out of the house, Rand walked from the barn. Brad got out of the car and went straight to Taylor. “What are you doing here, Brad?”

“What do you mean? I’m here to take you back. Get your things and get in the car.” He bossed her, grasping her arm.

She looked at Rand who had stopped halfway between the car and the barn. “No, Brad, you get the hell out of here and don’t ever come back. I’m home and I’m not leaving.” She told him, jerking her arm from his grasp.

Realizing this was the man who abused her, Rand began again, walking towards Brad. Brad grabbed Taylor by the hair and slammed her head down against the hood of the car, hard enough to leave a dent. “I’m not going to say it again.” Brad said.

Rand was infuriated as he ran towards the man, stepping in between him and Taylor as Taylor stood back up. “You’re not wanted here, you better go before you have problems.” Rand said and pushed him away from her.

“You must be Rand, is it? Well, Taylor belongs with me.”

“No, this is Taylor’s home, this is where she belongs. She deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Not like how you do. You should feel lucky if I let you leave without a good ass kicking.” Rand said to him.

Drawing back, Brad swung at Rand but Rand ducked and returned a punch to the face. Again, Brad swung and missed, while Rand’s punch landed it’s target. “Get off this property and don’t ever come back because if you do, I’ll be waiting.” Rand said and physically threw Brad against his car.

As Brad got back into his car, Rand went to Taylor to look at her face. She was shaking and crying and bleeding from the gash in her eyebrow he had reopened when he slammed her head down. Knowing she was scared of the man who was pulling out of the driveway, Rand wrapped his arms around Taylor as she cried.
